racism is not over...
"Notice that there is more pressure on black people to stop talking about 'race' than there is for racists to stop being racist. [The] System doesn't want racism to end, it just wants you to stop talking about it." - Chris Rock
Chapter 1 : HISTORy of Oppression AND "Stay in your placism" IN America
Democracy is usually defended by overzealous patriots who push the notion that the American Democracy gives everyone an equal voice, and provides equal opportunity for everyone to succeed. They fail to realize that the American democratic system is corrupt in that it does not promote justice nor equal opportunity for all but solely for elite. The reason for this societal structure is to maintain order and power amongst the upper class and keep everyone else in their place.
It is evident that the originators of both the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were not one’s who believed that all people were truly created equal. If so, they would have never supported the dehumanization and oppression of the Moorish people. Not only did they support this holocaust, but they made it law that the enslavement of the Moorish man and the Moorish woman was acceptable. Lincoln said " If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it". This shows that even when it was 'abolished' it was not because they recognized the evil in their actions. What made matters worse was that in return of making America the superpower country that it is today, all that the African-American community received was a lie (40 acres and a mule) and an apology. There were zero reparations given then, and even the people whose families for generations that have benefited off of African enslavement refuse to feel accountable to give any reparations back to the African American people who still suffer from those conditions. Then the system (the rich) implements in the minds of the American people that everyone is given an equal chance.
How can everyone be given an equal chance if the playing field is uneven? There are many people who recognize the unfairness in the country, but the majority of America is brainwashed to believe in a mirage of an even playing field. There are more people fighting the idea that white privilege exist and refuse to accept any accountability for the advantages they were given due to the past events our ancestors were apart of. Now, as the African American community is becoming more aware of their disadvantage in the American system they live in, they have been able to scope out the racism in our society. Although confrontation with these issues are not as organized as they might have been in the 1990's, a resurgent spark has been lit in the African American community as well as in non the non-African American community to change the system and fight for justice. The ignorance of some allow themselves to believe that the 2014 protests against police brutality have made a larger divide between races, they then label the fight for equality "reverse racism". Although the idea of "reverse racism" is malarkey, it is important for these conversations to be had and for the tension to be challenged.

The segregation in this country is blatant . Although not all communities, most groups of people live in clusters with people alike. It is rare to find communities that are diverse. The ones that are, are usually diverse across sexual orientation as well. Nonetheless, the oppression of the poorer communities are indirectly supported and in some cases directly supported by the privileged caucasian community. I believe this to be systematically designed. Although some whites may, many do not recognize their privilege or that such privilege exist. Thus, it is easy for this systematic enslavement to continue. The abolishment of slavery is fictional. Legally, the physical containment of any person is prohibited, but the mental enslavement of a person is very much still alive and legal. An example of this type of forced servitude is the indoctrination of western culture and the forcing of the “white” god has shown to be toxic in the African community.
“Nearly all religion was brought to people and imposed on people by conquerors and used as the framework to control their minds. My main point here is that if you are a child of god and god is a part of you, then in your imagination god is supposed to look like you and when you accept a picture of the deity assigned to you by another people you become the spiritual prisoner of that other people.” - Dr. John Henrik Clarke
The history of the current dominant religion along with its relation to the first African people is violent and bloody. In the literal sense, it was beaten into their minds. They were forced to leave their culture behind and accept a way of life forced upon them by the ancestors of the current dominant race. The pattern and longevity of this type of oppression made it difficult for the current African people to rebel against the system that was made to keep them oppressed. Many injustices and violations of laws against the African-American community historically have been overlooked. America has allowed the assembling of terrorist groups against the African-American community, it has allowed the unjust refusals to indict criminal officers and it's media refuses to equally cover crimes committed by caucasians are all examples America stifling and depriving the African-American community. |
"Racism springs from the lie that certain human beings are less than fully human. It's a self-centered falsehood that corrupts our minds into believing we are right to treat others as we would not want to be treated." - Alveda King
For many years, many scholars have argued that the African-American male, and the African-American female were not viewed as human beings. This was true from a legal standpoint, but morally, fathoming the idea that these heavily educated leaders did not believe that the moral crimes they were committing were wrong is incomprehensible.
In order to determine the legislative representation, in 1786 a compromise between the northern and southern states that stated that melanated were to be counted as 3/5's of a person. In other words, it was law that persons of African decent were represented as less than a person, less than a human being. Although this compromise was in the late 1700's, which may seem like such a long time ago, it wasn't until nearly a century later, in 1866 that an act was passed that stated that African Americans were full U.S. citizens. Yet African American community still had to fight for their civil rights during the Civil Rights movement of the 1900's when another civil rights bill was passed in 1964. The civil rights of the African American community are still being ignored while the people in power who are responsible for committing these hate crimes or allowing them to continue, such as the policemen, judges and politicians are being overlooked. |
Chapter 2: Ole' Contradictory Merica
The people of the United States has always propagated that it’s country is the land of the free and home of the brave. It highlights a false pretense that all “men” are equal, despite this statement being made during the horrors of enslavement. The United States’ relationship, with nearly all races and nationalities has been full of hypocrisy in that it has deprived specific groups liberty and the rights it supposedly promises for all. If the intentions for the citizens of this country is to become a more accepting place, then this nation needs to stop being imperceptive to the double standards alive in this country.
America’s 16th president, Abraham “Honest Abe” Lincoln, a man who would never tell a lie is commonly held on a high pedestal and is given great glory in American history. Usually being referred to as the man who redefined America by “freeing the slaves”, his legacy is taught in a way that forces any unlearned person (about his real intention), specifically those who are descendants of the African people to give unwarranted gratitude to him. Just as the many presidents before them, and the many to proceed him, he did not care about African people or their descendants. Yet America still glorifies him as a hero.
“My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.” - Abraham Lincoln
In contrast, a real herald in American history such as Malcolm X, his legacy is either not taught or taught in a way that portrays him as a villain. A leader whose main purpose was to stop the oppression against the African American community from the same government who is supposed to be responsible for protecting their rights. In Roger Hollander’s article for the Black Agenda Report, he provided an interesting analysis to why Malcolm and King were assassinated.
“There is nothing more threatening to the U.S. corporate elite, the government, the military, and the mass media than the prospect of revolution. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. were developing beyond their original Black liberation philosophies. They were emerging as powerful advocates and organizers for revolutionary change in the American economic and political system.”
Many people call him radical and violent because of his notorious quote “by any means necessary”. But many people when analyzing Malcolm X only chose to pieces of his speeches to support their own political agenda. But when one deciphers the true meaning of the whole quote, they will understand that he was not pushing unconscionable violence, but telling his follower that they could no longer allow the abuse of white radicals against them to continue.

A fraudulent religious faction in the 1900’s, known as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) brought havoc amongst melanated people. They savagely lynched, burned, castrated, raped, beat and committed other inhuman acts against them. They are estimated to have lynched 3,000+ African Americans. To compile on these nefarious actions, the people in the Klan were not ordinary farmers or southern people. They were cops, judges, lawyers and other political officials. The very people who are supposed to defend the rights of all individuals are the one’s responsible for these atrocities. Because these are the people who are the human representation of American law, this shows that the American law does not recognize the African people as human beings. There is a double standard that is deeply weeded in the minds of American people.
Society seems to be accepting of the Klan, but in history books, they demonize the efforts of the Black Panther party to protect the African American community. They called them violent radicals, when really they were doing the jobs that the police were supposed to do.
The definition of a gangster is an individual who is a member of a gang of violent criminals. Any person who who is apart of a larger faction that commits crime is a gangster. Yet, when the average person turns on their television to NBC, FOX News, or CNN, the picture that they show you when talking about gangsters, are people with darker skin. Never will ever turn on your television or log on to your favorite news website and see a segment on the real “gangsters” of the United States. Seldom will you ever see the propaganda from the U.S. talking about the war crimes they commit around the world.
According to the article “Top Ten American War Criminals Living Freely Today” by Douglas Herman. "Robert McNamara. Former US Secretary of Defense, helped kill approximately 2-3 million, mostly poor Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians. Not to mention a sizable portion of the 58,000 dead US servicemen pressed into that war. Not to mention that equal number of US veterans who committed suicide in the years to follow." McNamara is an Elder Statesman now, walking around freely today.Rarely do we see images of the Nazi hate groups or the congressman and representatives behind bedsheets that terrorize minority communities from a political standpoint. Ironically, from a historical context the biggest “gangsters” are caucasians. Referencing to the Al Capone’s, Billy the Kid, and Jesse James’. Yet the image that the media and society will give you when showing the picture of a “gangster” is an African American male.
If this country really wants to progress, as the citizens of this nation, we need recognize our prejudices and work together to stop accepting these double standards. It is not incidental that most negative traits of a human's in an American society are associated with primarily with African Americans. Thugs, gangsters, thieves, criminals.... Even though the statistics show that caucasians are equally likely if not more to be one of these negative characters. This way of thinking is damaging the cohesiveness and potential that America has for it to be the greatest nation (period). But until Uncle Sam confronts his own weaknesses, it will always be far from it.

Chapter 3: the American history of protesting
The history of civil disobedience is deeply engraved in the mosh pit of American culture. The very founding of this establishment was instituted by the civil disobedience of the colonist against the British taxation on tea. It is important to know that the people who participated in this event were white, and are known as the protagonist, the patriots, the founding fathers. There is a hypocrisy that plagues the American mind in that when people of color exercise their constitutional right to protest, using civil disobedience, compared to when caucasians use civil disobedience, the actions of the people of color are scrutinized where the actions of caucasians is pushed under the rug. The American democracy and its society once again fails to provide equal representation amongst its citizens.
Many forget that this country was founded on civil disobedience. But, during the civil disobedience that was acted upon during the mid to late 50’s of the 1900’s, during the fight for civil rights of all people, but specifically the African-American community, the protesters were called derogatory terms, attacked by police, dogs, and radical factions whose purpose was to torment the African American population. A protest and SCLC leader, C.T. Vivian said to the chief of police, in footage captured from the protest in Selma, Alabama "We are willing to be beaten for democracy, you are misuse democracy. You beat people bloody in order for them to not have the privilege to vote." During the Selma protests, both police and citizens all caucasian, attacked the peaceful protesters (both African American and Caucasian). Many of the the violent citizens were recruited by police. They used makeshift weaponry like bats wrapped with barbwire, bricks, pipes and wrenches. This was all used to disrupt the African American community from attaining their Constitutional rights.

During the protests of 2014, there were similar reactions by the majority. After the farcical decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson, a caucasian police officer who shot multiple bullets and killed an unarmed teenager. Even though there are many who feel as though this man should have not received a sentence of anything less than life in prison, the least that was expected from the African American community was that he would be faced with a trial. Quickly after the the decision, groups around the world reacted to the decision. Some chose to do peaceful protest where other rioted to vent their anger. Instead of covering the event with unbiassed intentions, the media chose to cover the protesters as "criminals", "animals" and some reporters went as far to say that all of these people said that they all should all be thrown in jail. Many of the comments on social media were indeed racist and ignorant.

These are the types of post on social media the popped up. Although I do acknowledge the many non-black activist who chose to speak with cognizance of the African American community. But the fact that there are still many who think like the people above is still troubling in that it stuns the progress of America. Now, let's analyze the coverage of the riots that consisted of primarily caucasians. Note, these riots are not results of unjust America or because of the denial of rights, but of sports.
Where is the mass media coverage of these riots? Where are the politicians telling these college students that they do not deserve the freedoms and liberty of America? Where are the people who called the Ferguson rioters derogatory names, why are they not saying the same thing to these caucasian adult fans doing the exact same thing over a recreational sports game? The only difference between the groups of rioters that were demeaned and the one's persecuted is ethnicity, the color of their skin. This is undisputed racism on the part of the media and the rest of the bias citizens that were not equally as angry at these riots as they were to the Ferguson. When will this country or will this country ever stop perpetuating bias and hypocrisy? It has been over 400 years and this country still does not provide equal opportunity for all. Eventually, the question of whether this country wants to provide equal opportunity and is the language of a free state is all a mirage to hide white supremacy.
